Insurance Transformation, Engineered for Humans

I'm Scott Stewart — a strategy and transformation consultant with 15+ years helping insurers grow profitably, transform operations, and build products people actually want to use. I combine rigorous systems thinking with a Northwestern Human-Centered Design degree to deliver strategies that hold together end-to-end and get implemented.

What I Work On

Grounded in real engagements — not frameworks off a shelf. Every service area reflects work I've led with Fortune 500 carriers, global reinsurers, and fast-growing MGAs.

Growth Strategy & Market Entry

End-to-end growth strategy and roadmaps — from greenfield carrier launches to $300M→$1.5B+ growth playbooks covering new products, distribution expansion, and lead management.

Operating Model Transformation

Strategy, design, and implementation of customer-centric operating models — including a $16B global commercial insurance BU and operations scaled from 50K to 5M lives.

Digital & New Business Transformation

UX design, technology architecture, and go-to-market strategy for digitally transforming new business processes across insurance, annuity, and wealth products — captive, independent, and direct channels.

Customer Experience Strategy

Enterprise CX transformation strategies and roadmaps that improve digital interactions for both customers and intermediaries — designed around how people actually behave, not how systems are built.

Strategic Program Office

Business planning capability and governance for large innovation portfolios — including ~$200M annual innovation spend management and quarterly Board-level reporting for Fortune 300 companies.

Underwriting & Product Innovation

Accelerated underwriting strategy and fully automated new business operating models — cutting cycle times from 17 days to 30 minutes, growing face amounts, and expanding agent adoption.

The Unusual Combination

Most strategy consultants think in frameworks. Most designers think in experiences. Few do both — and fewer still have spent 15+ years inside the insurance industry applying both lenses to problems that actually matter.

My work sits at the intersection of Strategy, Finance, Operations, and Technology. I approach every engagement as a system: understanding how the pieces connect before recommending how to change them. Then I design solutions around the humans who have to live with the outcomes — customers, agents, underwriters, and executives alike.

That combination has let me do things like compress a 17-day sales cycle to 30 minutes, design a carrier from the ground up, scale an operation from 50,000 to 5 million lives, and build the governance model for $200M in annual innovation spend — all within insurance.

Philosophy

Strategy without implementation is just a document. Implementation without strategy is just activity. I care about the full arc — from the insight that shapes the direction to the operating model that makes it real.
